The Physician Honor Roll names those physicians whose performance was among the top 25 percent of those measured nationally on a set of composite quality metrics. The metrics evaluate clinical process of care, based on HEDIS measures. This award highlights Pentucket Medical’s unwavering commitment to improving the quality of care provided to Harvard Pilgrim members, and to all of our patients.

Practice Honors US Medical Corps
LAWRENCE, MA—– Pentucket Medical, joining with Veterans Assisting Veterans sponsored a Black Tie Fundraising Event on Saturday, November 9, for the benefit of local Veterans support groups. The event – the first time the medical community has gathered to honor the members of the Medical Corps of the US Armed Forces – paid special tribute to those in the medical corps who have been killed, are prisoners of war or are missing in action.
“This was an unprecedented opportunity for the eastern Massachusetts and southern New Hampshire medical communities to unite and honor their own heroes – both sung and unsung,” says Pentucket Medical Executive Director John Sarro, who himself was a Navy Corpsman during the Vietnam War. Mr. Sarro spearheaded the fundraising effort in which more than $100,000 was raised.
Supporters of the event included area and Boston hospitals, ambulance companies and other medically affiliated groups. Lawrence General Hospital was the platinum sponsor.
The dinner was a glittering, formal affair held at Salvatore’s Restaurant Olympia Function Room in Lawrence, MA, and was attended by many physicians, some of whom dressed in military uniforms. A special video program, produced by Pentucket Medical, related the stories of two Special Forces internists who served multiple tours in Iraq and Afghanistan and who now call Massachusetts home.
An impressive bronze plaque honoring the Medical Corps of The United States Armed Forces was unveiled during the proceedings. The plaque will be installed in the waiting area of Pentucket Medical’s RiverWalk office later this month.
Proceeds from the night will go to numerous grassroots veterans’ organizations including Operation Thank You, Ironstone Farm Equine Encounters Program for Veterans, American Veterans with Brain Injuries and The American Widow Project.
“Our goal is to provide the services so urgently needed by those who have survived war but are suffering from the lingering effects,” said John Sarro.
