Pentucket Medical Associates’ Diabetes Team receives recognition status from The American Diabetes Association

Certified Diabetes Educators Granted Education Recognition from The American Diabetes Association

The Certified Diabetes Educators at Pentucket Medical Associates have been granted Education Recognition again for their performance in meeting national standards for providing quality Diabetes Self-Management Education and Support.

Assuring high-quality education to help develop and improve patient self-care skills essential to diabetes management is one of the primary goals of the Education Recognition program. Patients work closely with the educators to learn about their chronic condition and find personal strategies to control and live with their diabetes. Diabetes has changed considerably in the past 20 years. Vision loss, amputations, and kidney failure can be prevented.

Joan Hultgren, Certified Diabetes Educator and Registered Dietitian, credits the hard work of the team in achieving and maintaining Recognition Status continuously since 2006 through 2019. Programs that achieve Education Recognition have a staff of knowledgeable health professionals who provide state-of-the-art education about diabetes self-management for participants. In addition to Joan, the Program Coordinator, our team of certified diabetes educators/ registered dietitians also include Patricia Holt and Marcia Sikorski (also Certified Diabetes Educators and Registered Dietitians). Diabetes Education and Nutrition services are provided in Newburyport, Riverwalk (Lawrence office), Andover and Haverhill locations.
