Infectious Disease
In medicine, infectious disease or communicable disease is disease caused by a biological agent (e.g. virus, bacterium or parasite), as opposed to physical (e.g. burns) or chemical (e.g. intoxication). Infectious diseases are those diseases which can be spread from one living thing to another.
Pentucket Medical Associates’ specialists in infectious disease have decades of experience in the evaluation and treatment of conditions such as undiagnosed fevers, HIV infection, tuberculosis, bone and joint infections, skin and soft tissue infections. We also provide travel health consultations, including pre-trip vaccinations.
Pentucket’s infections specialists play central roles in the region’s hospitals, providing leadership on the control, prevention and treatment of infections. |
